Description of the site

So here is a description of the allotment site I signed up for this January. The size of the plot is 1.25 rods (a unit of measurement I'm not familiar with) which is about 30 square meters for metric users. I have been fortunate to inherit a small shed at the end of the plot, which will be handy for keeping tools in, and what appear to be raspberry plants although these are very over grown. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with fruit so will have to read up on the best way to look after them.

The whole site is currently covered with grass so I am hoping to get digging very soon to get the site turned over for planting at the end of March beginning of April. Of course I also need to decide what to grow so any tips for a beginner will be most appreciated!

Winter Weather

2013 looks set to continue a run of cold winters over the past few years so not much is going on at the site at the moment. I managed to get up to the site to take some photographs but as you can see there's little else to do apart from enjoy the snow!
